Why We Should Not Stop at Just Remaking MGS
To address the silliness of remakes and reboots in entertainment, we remade an article about remakes into a hardcover book.
The Snake Soup is one of the oldest fansites for Hideo Kojima, best known for the classic videogame Metal Gear Solid (MGS). In 2019 we had “Saul Ed Sinek” write an absurdist op-ed as an April Fools’ joke for The Snake Soup, arguing that not only should MGS be remade again, but so too should everything else—games, movies, music, even artists themselves—again and again.
Years later, we launched a hardcover remake on April Fools’ Day. Available in bookstores worldwide, it includes new “features” such as epigraphs from a few of the many adaptations of The Great Gatsby, a preface that’s about as long as the original article itself, and a table of contents for each paragraph.
